Educational Breaks
Educational visit information
Teachers are well-versed in the fact that school trips contribute significantly to the personal development of children, this helps to improve leadership skills and team work, as well as trust and respect amongst their peers and teachers. For many, this is an opportunity to shine outside of the classroom as well as gaining valuable experiences from cultural visits and social skills learning.
Cober Hill has a wealth of experience and expertise with facilities and resources for education groups and is perfect for school residential visits. We are found just less than 6 miles north of Scarborough and 12 miles south of Whitby, in a pleasant secluded but secure setting on the outskirts of the village of Cloughton. We are also within easy walking distance of the sea.
Situated within the North York Moors National Park, Cober Hill also sits upon the Cleveland Way and the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line; the Cinder Track, both hugely popular for outdoor activities.
Why choose Cober Hill?
Cober Hill has much to offer educational parties, including fantastic en-suite accommodation, on site facilities, 6 acres of grounds, and the surrounding area is particularly rich in learning opportunities.
This applies equally to all ages of school groups, from primary and junior schools to students from establishments of further and higher education, who may well be carrying out graduate of even post graduate studies.
There are two buildings with 67 en-suite bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of 140 children and teachers. The bedrooms vary in size; some are large enough for four or more students, whilst there are also single occupancy rooms for teaching and support staff. A large hall, a theatre with stage and a conservatory provide perfect classroom settings, and can act as base rooms. We also have a choice of 6 lounge areas for places to relax, which all have a television for down-time. There are two large dining rooms, and the catering team provide a variety of nutritious and balanced meals. We are happy to cater for any medical allergies and diets. The extensive grounds are great for educational purposes and study opportunities. In addition, you can take advantage of one of the numerous orienteering trails that have been created or the local village trails created with school groups in mind.
Our experienced conference co-ordinators are available throughout every stage of the planning of the trip, assisting with room allocations, special needs, dietary requirements, classroom layout and set up. Staff are also available to assist and advise during your visit to ensure it runs smoothly.
At Cober Hill we take the safety and security of our staff and guests very seriously, and offer assistance and advice with risk assessments.
